The city of Portland sits on the traditional land of the Multnomah, Wasco, Cowlitz, Kathlamet, Clackamas, Bands of Chinook, Tualatin, Kalapuya, Molalla, and many other tribes who made their homes along the Columbia River. Land acknowledgements are only the first step to reparative justice for the historic and ongoing violence, displacement, and disenfranchisement faced by Indigenous peoples in what is now known as North America.
